Dyrehøj Vingaard

Dyrehøj Vingaard lies like a gem on Røsnæs, where the landscape rolls in harmonious curves between high dunes, gentle slopes, and sunlit fields. Here, the fresh sea breeze from both Kalundborg Fjord and Sejerø Bay meets the land, while the soil beneath the vines—dry, sandy, and rich in minerals—creates a terroir made to produce wines of international class.

About the Røsnæs wine region

Røsnæs is one of Denmark’s most untouched natural areas, where the expansive meadows of the grasslands have been allowed to endure for centuries without ever meeting the iron of the plow. Here, rare wildflowers and herbs have survived since the Ice Age, protected by grazing livestock that have gently shaped the landscape. When darkness falls, the night sky reveals its full spectrum of twinkling stars—far from the artificial lights of the city, where only nature and wine are left to speak.

On the way to recognized AOC status
It is this unique combination of soil, climate, and tradition that has made Røsnæs a pioneer in Danish wine. The area is well on its way to gaining official recognition as a wine region with its own AOC, or in Danish, BOB(Beskyttet Oprindelses Betegnelse/ Protected Designation of Origin), which will cement Røsnæs as a true wine land. A recognition that not only preserves quality but also the story of a region where wine and nature go hand in hand.

The Story of Dyrehøj
Dyrehøj has stood proudly in this landscape since 1917, when the more than 52 undulating hectares of land were originally home to cattle, horses, and sheep grazing on the poor yet fertile soil. The stories told by locals speak of a time when cattle roamed freely with a view over the fjord, and when the raw beauty of nature set the agenda.
