Characterful and aromatic wines from new grape varieties – for us, they are the solution for sustainable and responsible viticulture. The so-called fungus-resistant grape varieties, known as Piwis for short, produce flavorful and sophisticated wines while also offering a robust and natural resistance to mildew.
For more than 15 years, we have been working intensively and with full conviction with Johanniter, Sauvignac, and others, and as Piwi specialists, we have gained extensive experience and expertise in cultivating and producing these exciting wines. Today, they grow on nearly 60 percent of our vineyard area.
With these grape varieties, we need up to 80% less crop protection, consume less fuel, avoid soil compaction, and save time... time that we prefer to invest in other innovative projects for enjoyment. Many years ago, we made our dream come true and took over the Wohlgemuth winery, with vineyards in prime Rheinhessen locations such as Westhofener Morstein and Gundersheimer Höllenbrand.
We have retained the mindset of newcomers to this day, preserving our conceptual freedom. This inner independence allows us to uphold a traditional craft with our own quality philosophy while also exploring new paths as winemakers.
