About the winery

We are a small winery located on the shores of Lake Constance in Bavaria. Family-run with about 8 hectares of vineyard, we know our vines by name. The region in which we live is shaped by Lake Constance, and the Alps bring a glacial influence. Föhn winds from the south of the Alps carry up into the Rhine Delta and gently caress our slopes. The vineyards near the lake (the village of Nonnenhorn and Sonnenbichl) are old shoreline areas, very stony and sparse, interspersed with carbonate sand veins from freshwater mussels. A bit further inland, the soils become deeper, and the wines have a juicier character. So-called drumlins form southern slopes, shaped by the glacier tongues. On this glacial gravel, the grapes for our village wines Lindau, Bodolz, and Wasserburg, as well as the site wine Entenberg, grow. We are an ecologically operating farm (Bioland member since 1994) and aim to practice a sustainable viticulture for future generations with as little external input as possible. Many of our thoughts in the vineyard revolve around grape variety selection (100% PiWi), soil- and cover crop management, biodiversity, sheeps, and a lot of manual labor. The winery does not use additives in the winemaking process, except a bit of sulfur. All wines are spontaneously fermented and bottled unfiltered. They are given the time they need, often resting on the full lees for up to 20 months in oak barrels, finely tuned to the stylistic character of the region.
