Weingut Georg Naegele - Schloßbergkellerei
About the winery
The listed Georg Naegele Winery is situated in the historic wine-growing village of Hambach, directly below Hambach Castle. The Naegele-Bonnet family has been cultivating vineyards in Hambach and the surrounding area since 1796. Today, Eva and Ralf Bonnet are the eighth generation to run the winery. The focus is on the classic grape varieties Riesling and Pinot Noir, complemented by white Burgundy varieties and other specialities. The vineyard area now covers around 15 hectares in the single-vineyard sites of Schlossberg and Römerbrunnen, and the ‘revived’ cadastral sites ‘IM KIRCHENBERG’, ‘AM HEIDENGRABEN’ and ‘IM KIRSCHGARTEN’. Cultivation is carried out in a natural manner, adhering to the beneficial and soil-conserving principles of integrated viticulture. The gentle processing of healthy grapes and temperature-controlled fermentation of the musts make the most of the natural aromatic potential. Red wines are fermented classically on the skins and then matured in large oak casks or barriques. Through our membership of the Forum Pfalz, we are in constant dialogue with the best red wine producers in the Palatinate. Numerous awards and prizes, including the ‘GROSSE STAATSEHRENPREIS’ in 2022, are the reward for our efforts. Don’t miss a visit to the wine shop in the historic manor house – whether for a tasting or one of the many cultural events held throughout the year!
