When Peter Kriechel Senior planted his first vine, he could never have imagined what his idea would grow into two generations later. A lot has changed since then, but the philosophy is still the same: behind every great success lies sweat, tears and a strong family.
The Weingut Peter Kriechel is the largest private family wine-growing estate of the Ahrvalley with 24 hectares today. Some other charming red or white sorts of wine also are offered to the customer besides the classic types of vine Pinot Noir and Frühburgunder (Pinot Madeleine) of the Ahrvalley with which the largest portion of the vines is planted.
With over 4 hectares Frühburgundervines the wine-growing estate is the greatest producers of this specialty in the world. The vineyards are cultivated quality-orientedly and integratedly environmentally harmless at the steep slopes of the Ahrvalley, a unique land developed and cultivated by man. All grapes are picked from hand and processed as gently as possible.
When working in the vineyard, great importance is given natural-oriented cultivation. Only organic fertilisers are used and no insecticides or botryticides are used at all.
In order to continue the regional idea in the cellar, we have had barrels made from local Ahr oak for several years.
