Ørnberg Vin was founded in 2007 by Niels Esbjerg and Anders Ørnberg. Both have an agronomy education from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, and both grew up on farms with highly specialized food production.

The driving force for the two childhood friends is to produce unique food products, and Ørnberg Vin has been run organically from the very beginning.

Anders' interest in wine began when he worked at a vineyard in Germany at the age of 20. In 1998, he planted the first small vineyard with his younger brother Rasmus on their older brother Christian's land. In 2007, the first 3,000 vines for the large vineyard were planted together with Niels on his ancestral farm. Since then, the two vineyards have been expanded several times, and today there are approximately 20,000 vines spread over about 6 hectares.

In 2024, Anders took over Ørnberg Vin. Together with his wife Helle, the experienced employees—Vibeke, Holger, Flemming, Ib, and Ugnius—and a loyal team of dedicated volunteers, Anders will continue to run Ørnberg Vin.

Anders' grandfather and father ran a farm on Odden based on biodynamic principles. The plan is to return to these biodynamic roots to further enhance the quality and experience of Ørnberg’s wines.

This means an increased focus on diversity in the vineyard, both biologically and in production. To create optimal wines at this unique location, it is crucial to give nature a rich yet controlled opportunity to thrive and become as diverse as possible. The goal is that every action taken in the field and cellar should bring more life, variety, and joy to people, animals, and plants.
