Silou Wines

A lot came together at our winery

Our philosophy, the right vineyards, a fantastic team, and a bit of luck. Since 2021, we’ve been making wines that bring joy to everyone: to us during the production process and, hopefully, to you while drinking them.

We produce naturally and without compromise—you’ll hopefully notice that soon enough. Yet our wines are approachable and unpretentious—just like us, by the way.

The son of a winemaker from Twann, he initially didn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps. But then he first trained as a wine technologist, followed by becoming a winemaker.

The next three and a half years brought him closer to wine—and frequently to Portugal, South Africa, and back to Lake Biel. While working, he completed his training as a viticultural technician at Strickhof Wülflingen and worked as a cellar master in Vingelz. Shortly before he planned to go abroad again, he was given the unique opportunity to take over his first own winery.

Maja grew up with animals and among vineyards. Cleaning vine trunks is one of her less fond childhood memories, so she too swore she would never become a winemaker. A flour dust allergy forced the trained baker to rethink her career path—leading her back to grapes in a roundabout way. After retraining as a winemaker and completing an internship in New Zealand, she worked at various wineries across Switzerland, from Salgesch to Thayngen, before also becoming certified as a viticultural technician. After gaining experience in wine sales, she now works full-time with us.
