Skærsøgaard Vin is the first licensed estate winery in Denmark, located near the hamlet of Dons, close to the city of Kolding. The winery was established and is owned by Sven Moesgaard, a pioneer in Danish winemaking. There are five employees: Ben and Katharina, who are currently fully responsible for daily operations, Michael, who is responsible for sales, and Hans and Freja.

During the harvest season, numerous volunteers help bring in the harvest. In total, 30,000 vines are cultivated outdoors on about 10 hectares of land.

The winery is located in Denmark's first, and the EU’s northernmost, wine region (appellation). Skærsøgaard's signature sparkling wine, “DONS,” received Denmark's first PDO (Protected Designation of Origin), equivalent to the French AOC and the Italian DOC. This is the only Danish product with such a designation.

The wines of Skærsøgaard are characterized by the Danish summer of white nights, allowing for slow, aromatic ripening of the grapes, and by a traditional, artisanal method of production. Since 2001, the vast majority of our wines have won medals at the annual fair Dansk Vinskue, which is regulated by the European Union. Additionally, the wines have amassed over 100 prestigious international medals since the 2006 vintage.
